SAMUT SAKHON Fisheries Department office issued a warning that those who release invasive blackchin tilapia fish into waterways face two years in jail and two million baht fine as the coastal province battles to control and exterminate this fish species, Naewna newspaper said this morning (July 20).
Mr. Phadim Rodin, head of the provincial fisheries office, posted a notice that those who violate the Royal Ordinance on Fisheries B.E. 2558 (2015) by farming them face a maximum one year in jail and a fine of not more than 1 million baht. Those who release them into the catchment area face a maximum two years in jail and 2 million baht fine.
