THE TEENAGER who killed his equally young girlfriend then cut off her hands and dumped her body beneath Udon Ratthaya Expressway in Pathum Thani early this morning (June 5) was later saved from overdosing on psychiatric medication by his brother, Amarin TV said.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Jirasant Kaewsaengek, head of Provincial Police Region 1, said after the body of Ms. Varanya (surname withheld), 18, was found with her throat slashed and her hands cut off, police spent two hours in investigating before finding out that the killer is her boyfriend Mr. Thanakorn, 18.
A police team then went to his house and surrounded it.
Investigation showed that the two of them have been living together for three years while still studying in high school and both were about to start their first year university education.
They previously lived elsewhere but moved to this house about a year ago.
His brother told police that the two of them had been quarrelling and at 2 a.m. he gave them a warning after which they fell silent.
Then at 5 a.m. the killer took his girlfriend’s body and dumped it under the expressway and returned home. After that he overdosed on 20 pills of two types of medication he had been prescribed for psychiatric treatment he has been undergoing over the past one year.
The suspect’s brother said he knocked on the door to his bedroom but when he did not open it and he could hear heavy breathing, he knocked down the door and saw that he had overdosed thus saving him.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Jirasant as the suspect has been undergoing psychiatric treatment at a hospital for over a year and was admitted to hospital after his suicide attempt, but is now out of danger, he cannot be interrogated just yet.
However a background check shows there is a case of abducting a minor against him.
