Two foreign men in punch-up over firing water gun at Patong beach

WATER-SPLASHING during Songkran festival turned a bit rough at Phuket’s Patong beach when two foreign men came to blows on the street after one of them fired a water gun at the motorcycle taxi the other was riding hitting the driver but not him yet annoying him, Amarin TV said this evening (Apr. 13).

A 30-second video clip of the fight between the two men was posted on the Facebook page of “E-Sor Khayee Khao”  with this attracting some comments. One person wondered whether the shirtless man’s pants would fall off while another said they are here to study soft power.

A reporter of this TV channel went to find out what happened and was told the punch-up occurred on Thaweewong road, which is Patong’s beach road, at 4.20 p.m. yesterday with traffic whizzing pass as both Thais and foreigners enjoyed splashing water at each other.

Mr. Nopparat Yiwa, a civil defence volunteer, said the tattooed foreigner was riding pass on a motorcycle taxi when the man in black shirt fired his water gun at them hitting the driver.

However this seems to have displeased him because he got off the motorbike and went to punch up the other man. A third foreign man tried to stop the fight but failed, just then a Patong station policeman saw the fight and stepped in with the two men then going their separate ways.

Another eyewitness, Mr. A (pseudonym) said the two foreigners fought for around five minutes with another foreign man trying to stop them. The man wearing a shirt had in fact crossed the road to the other side but the shirtless man was not finished so the former threw his water gun at the latter and just then the policeman showed up and they quickly separated.
