Briton dies after crashing through glass bathroom door

A BRITISH businessman died early this morning (Apr. 3) after becoming dizzy and smashing through a glass bathroom door at his home in Chonburi with shards then piercing his chest, TV Channel 7 and Thai Rath newspaper said.

At 7.10 a.m. Pol. Lt. Col. Surasingh Sukmak, a deputy superintendent, was informed of a foreigner having died after hitting a glass door at his home in Huai Yai subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, and quickly went there to investigate with Sawang Boriboon Foundation rescuers.

At the single-storey house within an upscale housing estate they found the wife and relatives of the deceased man,  identified as  Mr. Garath John Wilson, 54, deeply distressed by his death.

His body stretched out on a bed with serious wounds on his chest and his rib cage exposed leading to a lot of blood having gushed out.

Nearby was the sliding glass door to the bathroom which had shattered with there being a lot of blood stains on the shards.

The deceased Briton’s wife said her husband had last evening gone out drinking with his friends and returned home around midnight. When she woke up this morning, she saw him walking into the bathroom.

It appears he felt dizzy with his head hitting the glass door and shattering it after which pieces of glass pieced his chest.

He was still conscious after the accident and managed to climb on the bed, she added.

She called Bangkok Pattaya Hospital to come and help but he died from the large amount of blood he lost.

His body was sent to the Police Hospital for a thorough autopsy while his wife and relatives will be called in for questioning after they had regained composure.
