THERE were loud complaints today (July 1) after mobile banking apps and online service of several Thai banks crashed with customers told that cash transfers made from 2 p.m onwards will reach the destination by 7 p.m. tomorrow, Matichon newspaper said.
A lot of people were affected by the outage with today being payday and many complained about the banking problem on various social media platforms.
The hashtag #Bank collapse is the top Twitter trend of the day in Thailand.
Banks affected include Kasikorn Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Government Savings Bank, TMBThanachart Bank and Bank of Ayudhya.
Thai Bankers Association issued a statement that interbank money transfer service has developed a problem with transactions via mobile apps and internet banking channels not being processed. Customers are advised to avoid these services for a while.
Money transferred via these two channels after 2 p.m. today will only reach the destination by 7 p.m. tomorrow, the association said, adding transfers can still be made by ATMs and at bank branches as usual.
