MOVE FORWARD LEADER PITA Limjaroenrat has confirmed over the weekend he is looking to promote tourism under what he has branded THAI projects.
Posting on his Facebook page, the Move Forward leader who will likely be named the country’s 30th prime minister following the May 14 election put his tourism initiatives into four promotional projects, the initials of the words of which spell THAI – T for tranquil tourism, H for homestay tourism, A for adventure tourism and I for indigenous tourism.
Pita advised that villages-turned-resorts along the banks of Tapi River in Nakhon Si Thammarat should be a model for tranquil tourism whilst homestay tourism in Sukhothai should be adapted by others elsewhere in all regions of the country.
The Move Forward leader suggested that adventure tourism such as climbing mountains should be promoted in Kanchanaburi, Lopburi and Lampang in the style of that in Chiang Mai and Krabi.
Pita said he and his daughter Pipim like indigenous tourism the most and that hilltribe villages in the remote provinces should be promoted as tourist spots to see and admire their indigenous lifestyle.
