GLOBETROTTING FORMER prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has tweeted to repeat that he is coming back home to literally babysit the seventh of his grandchildren who was born today (May 1).
Thaksin, invariably viewed as de facto Pheu Thai party boss who has been living in self-exile overseas following the 2006 coup, posted on his Twitter page to repeatedly vow to return home sooner than later on occasion of today’s birth of his seventh grandchild, namely Thasin, the baby son born to his daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra, one of a trio of Pheu Thai partisan candidates for prime minister after the May 14 general election.
Thaksin said he is coming back home “soon” to literally babysit all his grandchildren especially the newborn baby as he is going to be 74 years old in the upcoming July.
The de facto Pheu Thai boss who has usually declined to pinpoint a schedule for his long-anticipated return has earlier offered to get himself behind bars upon his homecoming, however.
Thaksin has been earlier sentenced in his absentia by the Supreme Court to a combined 10-year term in prison under four separate lawsuits pertaining to counts of misconduct which he had perpetrated during his premiership nearly two decades earlier.
The deposed premier has earlier said he would seek no legislation or executive decree with the help of the Pheu Thai rank and file for his court verdicts after he has returned home.
Nevertheless, Thaksin’s critics have invariably dared him to return home ahead of the May 14 election and immediately follow the judicial process by, for starters, putting himself behind bars as he has earlier offered to.
Former Red Shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan has earlier charged that the de facto Pheu Thai boss was merely trying to help the party with their electoral campaign by vowing time and again to return home to cheer up partisan members and constituents staunchly loyal to him.
