THE SOUTH Korean embassy today (Mar. 16) clarified that news spreading in Thailand saying people from four northeastern provinces had been blacklisted is fake news, TV Channel 7 said.
According to the false report South Korea had blacklisted people from Khon Kaen, Sisaket, Udon Thani and Yasothon provinces after marking them as red areas.
A notice posted on the South Korean embassy website says the following:
“Please be careful about fake news. Recently news has been spread through some media channels about the blacklisting of Thai nationals residing in certain regions by the Korean government.
“We would like to inform you that this news is not true. Therefore, we ask for your cooperation to be careful when receiving false news so as not to cause any damage.Thank you.”
