BEING widely discussed in the Thai online world today (Jan. 2) are photos of a countdown event in Phuket showing Gam Wichayanee singing but most of the chairs unoccupied as they wonder whether this actually happened or were they shots of a sound test prior to the show, Sanook.com said.
Most netizens commented that it is unbelievable that this sort of event would be barely attended. These photos are being widely shared after Facebook user Chaow Rohitchun posted them.
This New Year show, entitled “Amazing Thailand Countdown 2022 – Amazing New Chapters” and held at Chaloem Phra Kiat Rama X Public Park at Saphan Hin, was organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Well-known artistes included Andrea Bocelli, a world-class Italian opera performer. Among other Thai singers were Oui-Rawiwan, Kob Saowanit, Pom Autobahn, Pu Anchalee, Pan Paiboonkiat, Ann Nanthana, Ann Thitima and Tee Wiwit.
However TAT had tried to get Lalisa Manobal, or Lisa, a Thai rapper, singer and dancer who is a member of the South Korean girl group Blackpink to also join in but her agency YG Entertainment said she could not do so because of a tight schedule.
