NATIONAL Police Chief Pol. Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk told reporters today (August 7) that a suspect in the rape and murder of a Swiss woman tourist at Phuket’s Ton Ao Yon waterfall on Tuesday August 3 had been arrested, Sanook.com said.
However he refused to reveal the details of the suspect held in the rape and murder of Mrs. Nicole Sauvain-Weisskopf, 57, a Phuket Sandbox tourist.
He also refused to confirm whether the suspect was a 33-year-old Myanmar national or a 27-year-old Thai man, as had been earlier reported were the key suspects.

However Thai Rath newspaper quoted Pol. Gen. Suwat as saying that several suspects had been rounded up for questioning and one of them, who picks wild orchids for a living, looked suspicious.
Upon examining his body scratches were found and intense questioning led to his confession.
Further interrogation is under way.
