TO mark former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s 72nd birthday today (July 26) his Facebook fan club hired food carts to distribute free food and soft drinks to people in Ratchadamnoen area, Sanook.com said.
His fans are following in the footsteps of the fans of artists and singers who have marked their birthday this way.
“On Dr. Thaksin’s birthday this year, Tony’s fans (using his Clubhouse chat alias Tony Woodsome) have organised an event to send some happiness to everyone in difficult times.
“We have hired food carts run by small vendors affected by Covid-19 to distribute food to people in the Rachadamnoen area, around Democracy Monument.
“We are glad to see our brothers and sisters enjoying themselves with many people having also wished Dr. Thaksin a happy birthday.
“The carts we hired have curry and rice, fried noodles, pad Thai, grilled meatballs, rice and omelette, fruit, pancakes, water, soft drinks, fruit juice, iced coffee and takeaway food boxes.
“We are also distributing in the Khlong Lod area,” the post said.
Thaksin’s fans added that they are moving around Bangkok to hire more food carts to give away free food to help lighten the burden of the people in these hard times
His fan club also wrote, “Still love, still waiting with hope, happy 72nd birthday Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra.”
