Four new Covid clusters found in Bangkok, Samut Prakan

 

THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said this afternoon (June 21) that four new coronavirus clusters have emerged in Bangkok and adjacent Samut Prakan province amid 3,175 new cases over the past 24 hours and 29 fatalities, Siam Rath newspaper said.

CCSA’s assistant spokeswoman Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan said the one new cluster in Bangkok was at a meatball factory in Pom Prap Sattru Phai district where 37 people were tested and 26 found to be infected.

One of the three clusters that appeared in Samut Prakan yesterday is at a condominium in Mueang district where 11 new cases were found.

The second cluster is in Bang Pu industrial area where 38 new cases emerged and the third at an agriculture water system company in Mueang Phra Samut Chedi district where 20 cases cropped up.

Of today’s batch of 3,175 cases, 3,035 emerged among the general public while 140 got infected in prisons and detention centres.

Today’s 29 fatalities raised the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 1,658 and in the current wave that started in April to 1,546.

Another  2,030 patients were cured, taking total recoveries since the onset of the pandemic to 221,306 and in the current wave 192,443.
