THE Public Health Ministry said this morning (May 10) that there were 1,630 coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, down from 2,101 yesterday, but there were 22 fatalities, up from 17 yesterday, Siam Rath newspaper said.
Meanwhile Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) spokesperson, Pol. Capt. Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, said in a Facebook post that another 177 cases had been found in the Klong Toey community, taking the total to 654.
Altogether 19,623 people in this community were tested during accelerated proactive examination from April 27 to May 9 with results of 5,700 people still pending.
The latest 177 cases emerged from the last batch of test results for 3,469 people living in this community.
Of 13,923 cases for which results have been obtained, 654 were infected, accounting for 4.70 percent.
Meanwhile at the national level, today’s 1,630 cases raised the cumulative confirmed total to 85,005 while the additional 22 fatalities pushed up the death toll to 421, Sanook.com said
Just in the new coronavirus wave that started early April this year there have been 56,142 cases.
Another 1,603 patients have been cured, adding up to 55,208 who have recovered since the start of the pandemic and 27,782 in the current wave.
