Police: Avoid Victory Monument area from 3 p.m. today

METROPOLITAN Police urged commuters and motorists to avoid the Victory Monument area from 3 p.m. today (March 12) as social media posts reveal that protesters will be gathering there from then on, Sanook.com said.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Jirasan Kaewsaeng-ek, deputy head of Metropolitan Police, said Victory Monument area is a key traffic junction and is congested both during normal and rush hours and for this reason people should avoid this zone till the gathering ends.

Roads that will definitely be affected and should be avoided are as follows:

  1.  Phahon Yothin Road (from Victory Monument to the entrance / exit of the Victory Monument expressway);
  2. Phaya Thai Road (from Victory Monument – Soi Yothi);
  3. Ratchawithi Road (from Soi Ratchawithi 9 – Victory Monument – Soi Senarak).

Recommended routes to use to avoid traffic impacts are the following:

  1. Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road;
  2. Tollway;
  3. Si Rat Expressway;
  4. Ratchaprarop Road;
  5. Chaturathit Road;
  6. Sri Ayutthaya Road;
  7. Rama 6 Road;
  8. Soi Phaholyothin 2;
  9. Rang Nam Alley;
  10. Soi Yothi;
  11. Soi Satsana.
