ONE of the key leaders of the Free Youth movement Mr Anon Nampha this morning (Feb. 5) issued a warning to the authorities that if the court does not release their friends on bail tomorrow when police will be petitioning for further detention then a protest will be officially launched, Siam Rath newspaper said,
Anon, a lawyer and political activist, said in his Facebook message that the movement’s followers should check the People’s Party website for the place and time.
Last month Anon was awarded South Korea’s 2021 Gwangju Prize for Human Rights, Prachatai reported.
The South Korean prize is given to activists globally and this year went to Anon for his legal contribution, anti-dictatorship activities and his call for monarchy reform.
Beside Anon, Jatupat Boonpattararaksa or ‘Pai Daodin’, a human rights, political and environmental activist, and Angkhana Neelapaijit, a former member of the Thai Human Rights Commission, too were awarded the prize in 2017 and 2006 respectively.
