WITH THE whole country worried about Covid-19 cases rising after some Thais sneaked back from Myanmar’s Tachileik border town to Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai province, the owner of the popular Doctor Panda Lab webpage today (Dec. 11) drew attention to illegal border crossings at eastern Chanthaburi province, Sanook.com reported.
Mr. Pakphum Dejhassadin, a medical technologist and owner of this webpage, posted photos of people travelling by back and forth by foot through natural channels at the Thai-Cambodian border in Chanthaburi.
The trek is from Daun Lem border crossing in Kamrieng district, Battambang province, on the Cambodian side to the Ban Laem border crossing in Thep Nimitr sub-district, Pong Nam Ron district in Chanthaburi province.
“Asking concerned officials to also check the natural channels at Ban Laem border crossing … just behind the fruit market people walk in and out like ants everyday,” he wrote.
His post has been continuously shared and commented upon by Thai netizens. Some of them said it is easier to walk across the border than go into a shopping mall as at the latter there is a temperature scan and alcohol gel dispensed to clean one’s hands.
