SEVERE floods in southern Nakhon Si Thammarat province have killed 10 people over the past 72 hours with the latest victim being a four-year-old girl who drowned near her house, Sanook.com reported today (Dec. 4, 2020).
Police investigators and rescuers from Pracha Ruamchai Foundation took 20 minutes to find the body of Wanrudee in two-metre deep floodwater near her house in Mueang district.
Investigation revealed that the young girl was staying on the first floor of the house with her brother as the ground floor was heavily flooded. Both parents had gone out to work.
She had gone to the side of the house and somehow slipped into floodwater and drowned being unable to save herself.
Her brother called out to the neighbours to help her and they in turn alerted the police and rescuers who quickly came but unfortunately were unable to save her life.
Wanrudee is the third person to have died in Mueang district in the still raging floods.
