Protesters refuse to join reconciliation committee

THE PEOPLE’S Party leaders read out a statement at Sanam Luang ground at 4 p.m. today (Nov. 4) refusing to join a proposed reconciliation committee to reduce political tension as in their opinion it is just a ploy to buy time for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Siam Rath newspaper reported.

The group was led by Mr. Jarupat  Boonpattararaksa, or Phai Dao Din, with others including Mr. Thatchaphong Kadam, or Boy YPD, Mr. Shinawatra Chankrachang, or Bright, and Mr. Athapon Buaphat.

The People’s Party said the establishment of such a committee will not bring about solutions to the problems the country is facing because Gen. Prayut continuing as the Prime Minister is the biggest obstacle to resolving political, economic and social issues.

As this group sees it, this move is but a political drama to buy time for Gen. Prayut.

They then reiterated their three demands: Gen. Prayut step down as prime minister; a people’s constitution be drafted; and monarchy reform.
