Court orders release of four protest leaders

THE CRIMINAL Court this afternoon (Oct. 30) dismissed a police petition to detain four protest leaders for the third successive period, pointing out that it is not necessary to hold them any longer during investigation, Sanook.com reported.

Being set free from Bangkok Remand Prison and Central Women Correctional Institution this evening are Mr. Parit Chivarak, or Penguin, Mr. Panupong Chadnok, or Mike Rayong, Ms. Panusaya Sitthichirawattanakul, or Rung, and Mr. Patiwat Saraiyam, or Bank.

Mr. Krisadaang Nuttajarat, the lawyer for People’s Party leaders, said that the court dismissed police petition to hold the four leaders for the third period over the September 19-20, 2020 rally at Thammasat University and Sanam Luang ground, stating that it was not necessary to detain them any further during investigation.

Voice TV reported that former Pheu Thai Party MP Dr. Tossapon Serirak took a motorcycle taxi to to Bangkok Remand Prison to welcome the freed protest leaders.
