Thaksin ‘not returning as PM of national government’

PEOPLE close to fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra today (Sept. 30) slammed rumourmongers who have spread news online that he is returning to helm a national government as a royally-appointed prime minister, Thai Rath newspaper reported.

They added that the former prime minister did not know anything about this matter and had criticised this type of information operation as being very bad for the country.

Instead of trying to tone down the political situation and build up confidence with other countries these people are giving importance to such issues, they added.

Meanwhile Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan who quit as Pheu Thai Party’s chief strategist last week denied moving to set up a new party while quashing rumours of her intending to run for Bangkok governor.

She also denied having stepped down over news that Thaksin’s former wife Khunying Pojaman na Pombejra will be taking over the administration of Pheu Thai Party.

Sudarat added that it is still not clear whether Pojaman will step in or not but if she does it would be good for the party.
