A NAVY AIRPLANE made a safe emergency landing at Narathiwat airport today (August 11) despite a failure of its front wheel.
The navy’s F27 Mk 200 Anti-Submarine Warfare plane landed on the single runway of the airport with two pilots and 12 passengers being reported safe, according to navy spokesman Vice Adm. Prachachat Sirisawat.
The turboprop plane’s front wheel did not stick out of its bay, forcing the pilots to make the emergency landing without it at the commercial airport, the navy spokesman said.
The incident forced an Airbus A320 airliner to land at Hat Yai airport, about 155 kilometres north of Narathiwat airport, instead.
The anti-submarine warfare plane of the First Naval Area flew on a routine mission across the Gulf of Thailand from U-tapao airport.
