Young man miraculously survives truck smash

EMERGING with only minor injuries was a young man who was asleep in his parked pickup truck in Phisanulok province early this morning (July 28) when a 22-wheel trailer truck rear-ended and crushed his vehicle against the bridge railing,  Sanook.com reported.

Police and rescuers rushed to the foot of Khodkod bridge on Highway 117, the Phitsanulok – Nakhon Sawan route, at 6.30 a.m. where the found the crushed white four-door pickup truck within which was trapped Mr. Santi, 29.

After pulling him out of the wreck everyone was amazed that he had only slightly injured his left leg with some sprain symptoms on his neck. He was quickly taken to Naresuan University Hospital for treatment.

Santi told police that he had driven down from Phichit province to visit some relatives living in Phitsanulok’s Bang Rakam district near the bridge where the accident occurred.

He had set off for home early in the morning but as he was drowsy and fatigued after social drinking the night before he parked his pickup truck five metres away from the bridge to sleep for a while.

He was rudely awakened when the trailer truck almost totally wrecked his vehicle and says it was a miracle that he survived.
