A SOCIAL media storm arose today (July 8) after a Facebook member wrote about what he says is a steep price charged by a Phuket restaurant with some people siding with the restaurateur while the others the patron, PostToday and Sanook.com reported this afternoon (July 8, 2020).
What particularly annoyed this Facebook member, who sent some raw seafood through a guide to this restaurant to cook and bring back to the hotel, was that the bill for 10 persons reached 6,750 baht, but this included two kilogrammes of squid which was fried crisp in garlic that the restaurant had supplied and charged 2,500 baht.
After two rounds of complaints the bill was discounted to 4,900 baht but the restaurateur said the customer only sent 4,000 baht.
This viral post later led to officials from Phuket Commercial Office, Damrongtham representatives , Phuket Tourist Police, Kamala Police Station officers going to inspect the restaurant in Kamala district.
The restaurateur said he was very said that something like this had occurred at his establishment and that he had never exploited customers, especially right now when everyone knew full well what the state of tourism was like.
His restaurant already gave Thai customers 10-20% discount but this customer had damaged tourism in Phuket, he added
