THE Interior Ministry confirmed today (30.4.2020) that the ban on alcohol sales will continue till May 31, 2020 pending any notification of change, PostToday reported this afternoon (30.4.2020).
Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Chatchai Phromlert, who had joined the press briefing by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at the Government House today, said sale of alcoholic beverages had been banned till April 30 because excessive alcohol consumption can lead to the development of many chronic diseases and other serious health problems.
That this ban is being continued is because CCSA has extended all the orders it has issued till May 31 with the Interior Ministry having to follow suit.
Meanwhile CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin stressed that the alcohol ban remains in place and is being extended until there is notification of a change.
