Election Commission official infected with Covid-19

THE Office of the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) announced today (25.4.2020) that one of their officials has been confirmed to have been infected by the novel coronavirus with this person being asymptomatic and without any record of having traveled overseas, Sanook.com reported.

This official, who handles legal affairs at the Office of Investigation and Litigation, was confirmed to have been infected yesterday after being found to be so during active testing at a National Housing Authority block of flats on Chang Wattana road in Laksi district.

EC liaised with the Department of Disease Control and the patient was immediately sent to Kasemrad Hospital Prachachuen for treatment.

Concerned agencies were also contacted to demarcate risk area and inform those who had close contact with this official to get tested for possible infection and stay quarantined for 14 days.

The commission’s offices have been disinfected and those who came close to this official barred from coming to work to stop the spread of this disease.
