A HEATED argument over a parking space at a petrol pump in Bang Yai area of Nonthaburi this morning (Aug. 25) led to one of the two men being shot while his assailant fled in his pickup truck, Amarin TV said.
A team from Bang Yai police station quickly went to the petrol pump upon being alerted of the shooting with an ambulance from Bang Yai Hospital also rushing there.
At the scene next to the parking space in front of a convenience store police found the injured man, identified as Mr. Anan (surname withheld), 34, shot in the right side of his abdomen with a 9mm pistol. The bullet had ricocheted and did not hit vital organs. Four spent shell casings were found on the ground with one other bullet having damaged the rear hood of the victim’s sedan.
The perpetrator had driven off in a black four-door pickup truck heading towards Bang Kruai district.
Upon being questioned Anan said he was driving from his home near Sanam Bin Nam to his office near Rama 2 road and stopped at the petrol pump’s convenience store to shop. While he was driving into a slot which another vehicle had just vacated, the pickup truck suddenly cut in to take the space.
He got out to confront the driver with this leading to an argument, but he insisted he had never had any prior conflicts with the perpetrator nor acquainted with him before.
A surveillance camera clip shows the two men arguing fiercely during which the injured man kicked the perpetrator in the stomach once. The perpetrator then got a pistol out of his vehicle and fired four shots at the victim, who ran for his life, before driving away.
Initially, Bang Yai police investigators are reviewing additional CCTV footage from the gas station along with the escape route to apprehend the suspect and take legal action against him.
