JUSTICE MINISTER Rutthapol Naowarat today (June 23) expressed his personal scepticism that a sum of 28 million baht in cash earlier supposedly earned by People’s MP Pawoot Pongvitayapanu from trading gold online may have carried no decimal points at all.
The Bhumjaithai-attached justice minister was responding to Pawoot’s statement earlier given to the public to the extent that he had merely earned the flat total of 28 million baht in cash from trading gold online over the last few years which, the opposition lawmaker contended, had by no means involved a foreign exchange trading scam.
But Rutthapol argued that profits or losses from trading gold would normally carry decimal points in addition to a flat total of cash whilst the sum of money earned by Pawoot and suspected by the Department of Special Investigation to have involved the forex scam carried no fractions at all.
According to the investigative agency attached to the Ministry of Justice, the People’s MP was found to have received 14 transfers of cash online worth two million baht each to totally amount to the flat sum of 28 million baht without decimal points which the justice minister has personally found as evidently sceptical.
Rutthapol said no subpoena has yet been issued for the People’s MP to be interrogated by the DSI which has begun to delve into the alleged conspiracy over the forex racketeering perpetrated by 57 suspected individuals including politicians and celebrities as well as 20 suspected online trading firms since the last six months.
The justice minister confirmed that the DSI will continue to investigate and will certainly take legal action against those evidently involved in the forex scam whilst the People’s MP in question has earlier offered to not take his legislative privileges which may otherwise grant him immunity to arrest and detention on any criminal charges.
A video clip featuring Pawoot promoting QRS Global, an online forex trading firm, in its advertisement had gone viral, prompting deputy People’s leader Sirikanya Tansakun to encourage Pawoot to clear himself to the public of all forex scandals.
QRS Global had reportedly used payment services provided by Pay Solutions, another firm in which the lawmaker in question had previously held shares.
