OFFICIALS at Kalasin City Hall fled in panic this morning (June 17) after the provincial military conscription chief was shot dead by his subordinate who was angry at being transferred from this northeastern city, PPTVHD36 said.
Kalasin Highway Rescue Service was notified of the fatal shooting at 9.20 a.m. with this occurring on the fourth floor of Kalasin City Hall within the provincial military conscription chief’s office.
Upon arriving police found Col. Koravikanon (surname withheld), 59, dead in his office while Lt. Chinkorn, 59, a military conscription officer, was waiting to surrender with his firearm.
Initial investigation revealed that Lt. Chinkorn was dissatisfied with his superior’s order transferring him to Kamalasai district military conscription office and tried to negotiate but this led to a heated argument and being enraged he shot him dead.
Kalasin Governor Suwan Khemthanaphet, along with the Provincial Police Commander and forensic officers, have inspected the scene. The suspect has been taken into custody for intense questioning at the Kalasin City police station to proceed with legal action.
