Update: 3 injured in school hostage-taking crisis, no fatalities

 

THE Public Health Ministry said in a Facebook post late this evening (Feb. 11)  that three people had been injured in a hostage-taking crisis at a school in Hat Yai with the principal who was shot and earlier reported having died actually survived, TV Channel 7 said.

The gunman who stormed the school at 4.45 p.m. and took several students and teachers hostage then shooting the principal and a student was later apprehended.

The principal, who was shot in the chest and torso, underwent surgery at Hat Yai Hospital and is now under close supervision in the ICU.

A 14-year-old student was also shot in the abdomen and is still undergoing surgery at Songkhla Nakarin Hospital while a second  student injured her ankle after falling for a height and was treated.
