A THAI-NORWEGIAN man who threatened his girlfriend with a homemade bomb in jealous rage while they were drinking with another couple outside his house in Chonburi set it off by flinging it on the table injuring all four of them, Amarin TV said today (Jan. 25).
At 11 p.m. last night Sawang Boriboon Foundation was alerted of several people having got injured at a house in Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, with rescue volunteers and officers from Nong Prue police station quickly going there to help and investigate.
At the scene, a single-storey house, they found four people injured at a stone table outside – two men and two women. They had multiple shrapnel wounds on their bodies, including face, eyelids, wrists, and arms, plus suffered from ringing in their ears and were talking incoherently.
They were given first aid and urgently sent to the hospital with the loud explosion having startled the neighbours.
There was also a lot of blood at the shattered stone table with two windows at the house also damaged. A yellow cardboard beverage carton was found on a table and it is believed the homemade bomb had been kept in it.
Police cordoned off the area for safety and coordinated with forensic officers to collect evidence, including fragments of the explosive device, for detailed examination after initially ascertaining that it was a homemade explosive device.
Ms. Daoloy, 66, the homeowner, said her Thai-Norwegian son Christian, 25, had been drinking with his girlfriend and another couple in front of their house. Before going to bed she warned him to not drink too much. She later heard a loud explosion and rushed out only to see her son, his girlfriend and his friends injured and crying for help so she immediately called the rescue service,
Initial inquiry revealed that Christain had argued with his girlfriend before threatening her with the explosive device and throwing it on the table, setting off a blast that injured all four of them.
Police have photographed the scene of the explosion and will be questioning the injured four people to determine what exactly happened and the source of the homemade bomb.
