AMID keen interest about a Belarusian cargo airplane that avoided Thai airspace in flying to Cambodia just hours after the Thai-Cambodian ceasefire came into effect raising suspicions that it could been have loaded with weapons it was revealed that on flying back from the neighbouring country it did pass Thai airspace, Amarin TV said this morning (Dec. 29).
This aircraft, an Ilyushin Il-62Gr (or Il-62M, a modified cargo version), Rada Airlines cargo flight number RDA2276, registration number EW-450TR, with an estimated cargo weight of 40,000kg (40 tons), originated from Belarus, a close ally of Russia, then flew to Mombasa, Kenya, and from there suspiciously avoided Thai airspace as it flew to Phnom Penh crossing Malaysian airspace.
It landed in Phnom Penh just three to four hours after the ceasefire started at noon on Saturday (Dec. 27).
The World Forum international news Facebook page said today that this airplane left Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh at 6.40 a.m., via Thai airspace, bound for Sohar International Airport in Oman, scheduled to land at 1.42 p.m. Thai time.
However it was discovered that this cargo airplane diverted from Oman’s airport to Fujairah International Airport at United Arab Emirates, minutes before reaching its destination.
