THE Second Army Region said at 8.30 a.m. this morning (Dec. 8) Cambodia fired BM-21 rockets at residential areas in Ban Sai Tho 10, Ban Kruat district, Buriram province, Naewna newspaper said.
No injuries or losses have been reported so far with the army continuing to protect the people to the fullest extent.
The BM-21 “Grad” (Russian: БМ-21 “Град”, lit. ’hailstorm’) is a self-propelled 122mm multiple rocket launcher designed in the Soviet Union. The system and the M-21OF rocket were first developed in the early 1960s, and saw their first combat use in March 1969 during the Sino-Soviet border conflict, according to Wikipedia.
The BM-21 features 40 launch tubes arranged in four rows of ten. It fires 122mm unguided rockets, which are spin-stabilised and capable of delivering high-explosive fragmentation warheads, incendiary payloads, or even chemical munitions in older variants, Legendsliveon.co.uk explained.
