BANGKOK Mass Transit System Plc, operator of the city’s BTS Skytrain system, announced a fare increase on the Green Line extension routes from 15 to 17 baht from Nov. 1, 2025 onwards but trips across core line and the extensions will not be higher than 65 baht, PPTVHD 36 said today (Oct. 28).
Fares are going up on the following routes:
– Mo Chit Station (N8) – Khu Khot Station (N24);
– On Nut Station (E9) – Kheha Station (E23);
– Wong Wian Yai Station (S8) – Bang Wa Station (S12).
The new fares are follows:
Single-trip ticket: 17 – 45 baht;
Rabbit Card for general public: 17 – 45 baht;
Rabbit Card for students: 12 – 32 baht (30% discount);
Rabbit Card for senior citizens: 9 – 23 baht (50% discount);
The fare rate for trips across the core line and extensions will not be more than 65 baht.
Earlier Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said a flat fare of 15 bath has been applied on extension routes which does not reflect the operating and maintenance costs leading to the city administration having to shoulder compensation of more than 6 billion baht a year. Revenue from the extensions is approximately 2.4 billion baht per year, while total expenses are as high as 9.012 billion baht with this necessitating a fare restructuring, Thai Rath newspaper said.
However, the BMA is aware of the potential impact on the public and has therefore implemented appropriate relief and assistance measures with these being a 30% discount for children and students (under 23 years old), and a 50% discount for senior citizens (60 years and older).
The primary affected groups are passengers travelling only on the extension routes, whose fares will increase by 2-30 baht depending on the distance. Fares remain the same for passengers travelling only on the core line.
