A YOUNG Frenchman who jumped down from a hotel balcony in Pattaya in front of a security guard before dawn today (Oct. 27) was rushed to the hospital but later died there after losing a significant amount of blood, TV Channel 7 said.
At 4.49 a.m. rescuers at the Sawang Boriboon Dhammasathan Foundation were alerted of a person having fallen from this hotel in South Pattaya and sustained serious injuries so rushed there after informing police.
At the scene they found Mr. Kurtis (surname withheld), 24, lying in a pool of blood on the parking lot floor. He had suffered severe head wounds and broke his right leg with rescuers giving him first aid and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) then rushing him to Pattaya City Hospital but he later died there.
A security guard at this hotel who witnessed his plunge said he saw the deceased man standing on the balcony with his arms stretched out, then walking back to his room. He later came out again and jumped.
Although he tried to stop him it was to no avail and while in shock he did manage to take one photo with his mobile phone then quickly called the police.
Upon inspecting his room, number 514, the police team found two bags of marijuana and remains of some which the deceased man had smoked, all of which was collected as evidence. The door was locked from inside and there were no signs of struggle with only the Frenchman having occupied the room.
Police are investigating the cause of the plunge, whether it was due to stress or other factors, with his body sent for autopsy at Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police Hospital, to determine the exact cause of death.
