4 Israeli soldiers nabbed with drugs at party celebrating ceasefire

FOUR Israeli soldiers on leave at Koh Phangan were caught possessing and taking some drugs at a noisy party in a villa celebrating the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, TV Channel 7 said today (Oct. 14).

Pol. Lt. Col. Winij Bunchit, inspector of Tourist Police Station 5, Division 2, together with Koh Phangan District Chief Mr. Suriya Bunphan and the island’s police raided the villa at 2 a.m. after a Frenchman residing in the adjacent villa called 1155 hotline to file a complaint that his neighbours were playing loud music at a party and a causing a disturbance. They also did not heed his warnings.

Rounded up were the four Israeli soldiers only identified as Mr. Daniel, Mr. David, Mr. Kefir, and Mr. Guy, all around 26 to 27 years old, after 0.59 grammes of cocaine and 1.37 grammes of pink powder ecstasy were found in a wallet placed at the dining table.

All four also tested positive for drugs in urine tests undertaken later.

They confessed that the drugs were theirs, having purchased them from an Israeli friend whose last name they did not know, to be consumed at this party celebrating the end of Gaza war.

Approximately 10 to 15 other Israelis also attended it but left before the raid after the Frenchman complained about the noise leaving the four of them to continue partying,  chatting and consuming the drugs they had bought.

They were charged with “joint possession of Category 1 (ecstasy) and Category 2 (cocaine) narcotics for illegal consumption.” They were also charged with “drug use” based on the drug test results.

The suspects, along with the evidence, were taken to the Koh Phangan police station for further legal proceedings.
