Israelis being recruited to work illegally on Koh Phangnan?

A KOH PHAGNAN journalist shared a Facebook post today (Oct. 7) alleging that Israeli nominee companies are recruiting only their country folk or those who speak Hebrew to work for them and they could be coming here on tourist visas to illegally take up these jobs, Naewna newspaper said.

Calling himself Suer Thuen (Illegal Media), he related that he moved to the popular tourist island several years ago and loves the peace, quiet and the yoga community there.

However he recently checked on Israeli groups also residing on Koh Phangan to find out more about their activities and discovered interesting goings-on on social media.

Many businesses on the island are now owned by Israelis, he said, and they primarily communicated via social media to share information and also recruit only Israelis or those who can speak Hebrew to work for them.

As an example, he mentioned one group that has over 1,000 members and communicates via WhatsApp having announced job openings specifically for Israelis or those who speak Hebrew.

Most of this group’s  posts are also about job openings, he added.

He raised the question of whether these recruitments are legal and whether Israelis working on the island have work permits.

He wondered whether they are entering Thailand on tourist visas then working illegally here.

This seems to be a domestic Israeli matter but only it is in Thailand, he pointed out.
