LEICESTER CITY, owned by CEO of King Power Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, put up banners on the pitch and the scoreboard with the message #TruthFromThailand during their pre-season friendly match with Italian club ACF Fiorentina yesterday (Aug. 3) with this ending at 2-0 for the former, Naewna newspaper said today.
This is the Thai-own English club’s effort to tell the world about the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border after five days of clashes. Although the two countries agreed to a ceasefire on July 28, as mediated by Malaysia with US and China observers present, Cambodia continues to attempt to distort the truth, claiming Thailand fired first.
This is despite a satellite imagery analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) finding evidence that the conflict was initiated from the Cambodian side.
Mr. Nathan Ruser, the analyst, stated that after closely examining the data, most of the escalation appears to have originated from the Cambodian side. Cambodian troops reinforced several areas prior to the brief clash at Chong Bok, Ubon Ratchathani province, on May 28 with one Cambodian soldier having died. Cambodia also rapidly deployed additional strategic assets immediately following the incident.
He included a heatmap showing the concentration of Cambodian military activity prior to July 24.
Leicester City helped inform the world about the truth from Thailand by putting up these banners.
Images featuring the Thai flag and the hashtag #TruthFromThailand were widely circulated to show that Thailand did not initiate the conflict with Cambodia.
