A MULTI-VEHICLE accident occurred on Bangkok’s Suk Sawat road at 9 p.m. last night (July 11) with this starting by a trailer-truck slamming into a bus and leading to 55 people being injured, Amarin TV said.
Pol. Lt. Col. Narasak Wongpota, deputy chief for investigation at Rat Burana station, quickly took a team to the spot of the pileup near the entrance of Soi Suk Sawat 35, heading for Phra Pradaeng intersection, and called Civil Defence Volunteers and the Ruam Katanyu Foundation rescuers to help the injured.
Upon arriving they saw that the 22-wheel trailer-truck loaded with sand had slammed into the rear of the air-conditioned bus after its tyre had exploded.
The bus then crashed into a blue sedan causing it to slam into a motorcycle, knock down a signpost, which then also fell on the motorbike, after which got stuck in a roadside tree. The motorcycle was completely smashed.
The rear of the trailer-truck had also hit a white van leading to the right door being severely damaged, side mirror knocked off and the front bumper too badly damaged.
Mr. Pitak Chaopadriew, the sedan’s driver, said he had come here with his daughter and parked by the roadside while waiting for his sister when suddenly the bus rear-ended his vehicle, alarming them. He had seen the bus heading towards his car without braking.
Mr. Sakda Ployngam, the motorcycle rider, said he had parked by the roadside while waiting for his daughter when he heard a loud bang so quickly jumped off. When he turned around, he saw vehicles crashing into each other in succession with the sedan slamming into his motorbike and the tree.
