RESIDENTS in Pathum Thani province to the north of Bangkok were delighted today (March 26) that a study on building two monorail electric train lines is now in with this covering over 24 kilometres, TV Channel 7 and Matichon newspaper said.
The first line, the Rangsit -Wat Khian Khet -Khlong Si route, has 12 stations with this starting at the Red Line’s Rangsit station, cuts through Lam Luk Ka Khlong Si road and then connects with the Green Line extension’s Khlong Si station.
The second route is from Wat Khian Khet to the new zoo station at Khlong Hok, a distance of 7.43 kilometres.
This is expected to open for service in 2032 with the fare being 20 baht the entire route.
The Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization is the project owner under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior. Additional income will be raised through developing adjoining areas and allowing pedestrian bridge links to the two lines.
The economic feasibility study puts the investment value of the two electric train lines at approximately 26 billion baht.
