TWO Indian men holidaying on Koh Phangan were arrested today (March 16) on charges of raping a German woman during the Full Moon Party held on Thursday night to Friday morning (March 13-14), Naewna newspaper said.
Pol. Col. Aphichat Chansamret, superintendent of Koh Phangan police station, said a police team including officers from Surat Thani Crime Suppression Division, Crime Suppression Division 8, Tourist Police and Immigration Police split up to track down the two suspects at various accommodations after seeing them on surveillance camera clips.
Upon identifying them, namely Mr. Vijay Dadasaheb, 47, and Mr. Rahul Balasaheb, 40, police got an arrest warrant from Koh Samui Provincial Court and moved in to arrest them.
The suspects told police after the incident they immediately returned to their accommodation and did not go anywhere until they were arrested.
Pol. Col. Aphichat brought the victim to see them and she confirmed that they were the ones who raped her with this occurring because she was very drunk and had no strength to resist.
However while Dadasaheb admitted to raping the victim, Balasaheb said he kissed victim’s cheek and hugged her but when she reisisted he let her go,
Both the victim and the suspects were sent to a doctor for DNA testing.
The two Indian men were charged with jointly raping another person by using force while that person was unable to resist.
