Myanmar fighter jets strafe Karenni refugee camp on New Year’s Eve killing three

AIRSTRIKES by Myanmar junta on a Karenni refugee camp on New Year’s Eve killed three persons including a child but there were no casualties in a second aerial attack on another part of Karenni state, Naewna newspaper said today (Jan. 1).

Ayeyarwaddy News Agency quoted Mr. U Banyar, director of the Karenni Human Rights Organisation, as saying that Myanmar military fighter jets strafed a Karenni refugee camp, called Elephant Camp, located east of the state capital Loikaw at 4 p.m. yesterday.

The aerial attack killed a 38-year-old woman on the spot while a three-year-old child and a 52-year-old woman later died in the hospital. A 19-year-old student who suffered a head injury and two others who were seriously injured are still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

At around midnight Myanmar junta fighter jets bombed Demoso township but no one got hurt.
