TWO SWEDISH men wanted in their home country for allegedly running a call centre gang that scammed over 50 million baht were arrested in Pattaya for overstaying, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Oct. 29).

Upon being tipped off that Swedish men who allegedly ran a call centre gang were hiding in Bang Lamung district of Chonburi, an Immigration Bureau 3 police team together with senior officers from the headquarters went to inspect the area in front of a condominium in Nong Prue subdistrict.

Upon seeing a suspicious foreigner in front of the building, only identified as Mr. John (assumed name), 24, Swedish national, they checked his passport and found that he had overstayed.

They then went to his unit where they found Mr. Vladis (assumed name), 25, also from Sweden, who too had overstayed.

They were both arrested for overstaying and taken to Pattaya police station. It was reported both men had a history of committing criminal offences in Sweden in the form of running a call centre gang with damage reaching over 50 million baht.
