A WOMAN who was stressed out over being unable to raise 400,000 baht to bail out her Indian husband sat at the edge of an apartment balcony for nine hours threatening to jump down with police doing their best to persuade her to come back in but it was her brother who was finally able to save her, Naewna newspaper said today (Feb. 23).
At 3 a.m. today Bang Yai police station, Nonthaburi province, was alerted of Ms. A (pseudonym), 41, a resident of Udon Thani city district, sitting on the edge of this balcony at an apartment building with a team quickly rushing there after coordinating with Ban Bang Muang municipality to send a team with air cushions and a crane platform.
She told rescuers that she was extremely stressed because she was unable to raise 400,000 baht to bail out her Indian husband who had been arrested by Samut Prakan police on the charges of hiring a hitman to kill an adversary.
She had come here with her mother to see her husband but being unable to find enough money to bail him out, came out to sit on the edge of the balcony.
Her mother said before the suicide scare her daughter was resting in the room and mumbling to herself. She was watching over her but when she went to the bathroom her daughter had quickly climbed out and perched on the balcony’s edge. She had been persuading her to come back in since 2 a.m. but when she refused to do so at 3 a.m. called the police.
Samut Prakan police had arrested the gunman in this case on Feb. 13 and then chased and arrested her husband in Udon Thani on Feb. 16.
