THE daily Covid tally remained above the 11,000 mark this morning (Oct. 1) reaching 11,754 cases and 123 deaths with Bangkok continuing to be the worst affected even as the daily count dropped to 1,423, Siam Rath newspaper said
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said of today’s new batch of cases 11,253 were among the general public and 501 in prisons and detention centres.
This takes the cumulative confirmed total since April 1 to 1,586,366.
Another 12,473 patients have recovered and returned home taking total recoveries since April 1 to 1,455,720 with 115,233 still undergoing treatment.
The additional 123 fatalities raised the death toll from April 1 to 16,756.
Statistics released by CCSA at 1 p.m. today shows that Bangkok with 1,423 Covid cases today was followed by Samut Prakan with 861. Chonburi is in third place with 820 followed by Yala with 545, Narathiwat 515 and Rayong 472.
There were Covid cases in 75 provinces with the two not reporting any being Chainat and Amnat Charoen.
As many as five southern provinces ranked among the top ten namely Yala, Narathiwat, Songkhla, Pattani and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
There were 32 provinces that reported over a hundred cases today with most being in the South followed by the Central and Eastern regions while all five provinces in the western region did so.
