Bangkok Covid cases soar to 41,573 with Klong Toey hardest hit

 

THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said Bangkok continues to have the most Covid cases with this reaching 1,356 today (June 1) and taking the total to 41,573, Amarin TV said.

Nationally the number of daily cases dropped to 2,230 from 5,485 yesterday, but fatalities climbed to 38 from 19 the previous day, with the overall death toll now standing at 1,069.

Of the new batch of cases 2,153 were among the general public, 77 in prisons and detention centres while 21 were infected overseas.

An additional 3,390 patients were cured taking total recoveries to 111,735, while 49,218 are still undergoing treatment. 

The number of patients in the current Covid wave that started on April 1 has now reached 133,159 and since the start of the pandemic 162,022.

Meanwhile the a breakdown Covid cases in Bangkok from April 1 to May 30 is as follows:

– 1. Klong Toey, 1,656 cases;

– 2. Din Daeng, 1,255 cases;

– 3. Bang Khae, 1,042 cases;

– 4. Dusit, 876 cases;

– 5. Ratchathewi, 853 cases;

– 6. Huai Khwang, 851 cases;

– 7. Wattana, 844 cases;

– 8. Chatuchak, 806 cases;

– 9. Bangkapi, 794 cases;

– 10. Bangkhen 789 cases.

In addition, CCSA revealed that 23 Bangkok districts had clusters where patients emerged in the last 14 says as follows:

– Central Bangkok: Din Daeng, Dusit, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Phra Nakhon, Ratchathewi, Samphanthawong and Huai Khwang;

– Eastern Bangkok: Khlong Sam Wa, Bang Kapi and Minburi;

– Southern Bangkok: Khlong Toey, Bang Kho Laem, Bang Rak, Pathum Wan, Yan Nawa, Wattana, Suan Luang, Bangna (new)and Sathorn (new);

– Northern Bangkok: Bang Sue;

– Southern Thonburi: Thung Khru and Bang Khae;

 

– North Thonburi: Bangkok Noi.
