ALL eyes are on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha as to whether he will attend the upcoming Asean summit in Jakarta next Saturday April 24 after it was confirmed that Myanmar junta leader Gen Min Aung Hlaing will be participating, Siam Rath newspaper said today (April 18).
This would be the Myanmar junta leader’s first known foreign trip since seizing power on February 1 and plunging his country into turmoil with mass protests taking place nationwide and hundreds of people, including children, having been killed.
Government House reporters revealed that it has been decided that a representative would attend the summit and participation would not be through video conferencing.
However discussions are still taking place on whether Gen Prayut should attend it or Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai do so in his place.
