A YOUNG Thai man who was still heavily drugged when he was arrested today (March 22) had stabbed a pump attendant to death last night then this morning shot dead his neighbour, TV Channel 7 said.
Policemen from Sam Khok station in Pathum Thani province rushed to the single house where Ms Maliwan Saengchan, 40, was shot dead while lying on a hammock. However they could not immediately go in because the gunman, Mr. Sarawut Khaneree, or Toei, 24, was still wandering around the compound with a pistol in his hand.
The deceased woman’s husband Mr. Jakkraphong Meipool, 38, stood next to his dead wife’s body, wailing in panic.
It was 40 minutes later that police were able to arrest Sarawut but even after taking him to the police station they could not immediately get any straight answers from him as he was still high.
Jakkraphong told police he was lying in a room within the house while his wife lay on a hammock in another room. He then heard his wife calling out, “who is this?” and then a gunshot going off. When he rushed out he saw that his wife was dead after being shot in the head while the gunman was still walking around the front of the house, so he immediately called the police.
Subsequently, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chayut Marayad, head of Pathum Thani provincial police, said the same gunman had stabbed a petrol pump attendant to death the night before after a fight broke out when he did not pay after filling up his motorcycle.
The gunman’s mother said her son did not know the neighbours because they had just moved in a short while ago. She added that she was shocked by what happened because her son was mostly quiet at home and she seldom asked him anything having to work hard from morning to night and that she only just found out he took drugs.
