Court denies arrest warrants for singer’s girlfriend, friend

THE Criminal Court has dismissed a petition by police to issue warrants to arrest the girlfriend of Mr. Chaiamorn Kaewwiboonpan, a popular singer whose stage name is Ammy the Bottom Blues, and who has been arrested on the charges of violating Section 112 of the  Criminal Code, known as the lese majeste law, for alleged arson in front of Klong Prem prison and another man, Thai Rath newspaper said today (March 5).

Police investigators at Prachachuen station went to the court to submit a petition for issuing warrants to arrest Ms Yanisa (surname withheld), a first year student at Chulalongkorn University’s Political Science Faculty, and Mr Thanaphat (surname withheld).

Ms Yanisa is among the co-founders of Kiaomudom Group Does Not Bow to Dictators.

However the Criminal Court rejected the petition pointing out that there was no evidence at the scene that the two suspects had joined Ammy in this incident.

The court also questioned the testimony of an eye-witness, saying that this person has been detained to point the finger at the suspects.
