A PICKUP truck driver who was harassed by some bikers and forced to stop then badly beaten up later chased his tormentors and smashed their four motorcycles killing two of them and injuring seven others with himself also getting injured, Amarin TV said today (Feb. 26).
Pol. Lt. Col. Jirawin Ruangboon, an inspector at Nonsuwan police station in Buriram province, rushed to the scene of the smashup at 8 p.m. last night with rescuers accompanying him.
Upon arrival he saw four smashed motorcycles scattered on the road with one person dead on the spot, later identified as Mr. Sitthichai Sisang, 23, from Nakhon Ratchasima province.
Another person from Nakhon Ratchasima province, Mr. Pirun Kongcharoensuk, 32, later died at the hospital.
The seven people riding the four motorcycles who got injured were identified as Mr. Somchit Namviset, 35, Mr. Big (real name unknown) Sakulsang, Mr. Jo (real name and surname unknown), Ms. Dara Mungomklang, Mr. Krisada Avisu, 30, Mrs Atiporn Duangsai, 26, and six-year-old Miss Ananaporn.
The pickup truck’s driver Mr. Wichet Wongthanyakon, 43, who is a resident of this northeastern province, said he was driving his vehicle as usual when suddenly a group of bikers started harassing him and surrounded his vehicle forcing him to stop.
They then bashed him up till he fainted. When he regained consciousness he drove up to this same group of motorcyclists and smashed their bikes.
He too had two fractured ribs in this road rage fight.
Mr. Wichet’s wife Mrs. Samran Chasingha, 44, said her husband delivered vegetables for a living and that she usually accompanied him but yesterday he went alone.
She added that she did not know why this fight occurred but her husband told her that he did try to flee but failed to do so.
