Coronavirus alert issued after Chonburi beer hall cluster emerges

AUTHORITIES issued an alert for anyone who visited Brewery 90 Sriracha in Chonburi province during Dec. 24-31 to undergo a Covid-19 test after a cluster of 40 cases was found among its patrons, Amarin TV reported this afternoon (Jan. 9, 2020).

Of the 40 cases, 35 were within Sriracha itself, four in Bang Lamung district and one Mueang Chonburi taking the provincial total to 518.

Dr. Wichai Thanasopon, Chonburi’s deputy health doctor, said the cluster was discovered after an infected man who works in Rayong revealed that he had visited this beer hall in the adjacent province.

The disease investigation team launched proactive testing and discovered 23 cases and are continuing to search for more especially in large establishments such as factories, he added.

Those who visited this beer hall from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve are urged to get a coronavirus test and take leave from work to isolate themselves at home until the result is out. They could also call Sriracha District Public Health Office at 038-322 503 or 084-3539345 and 081-5629695 for help

The new patients are urged to provide as much information as possible in order to analyse the situation and monitor and control the spread of this feared disease.
